Meet Peter, Tunbridge Wells gardener and the man behind Figgy’s

Figgy’s Garden Maintenance is proudly run by Peter, a local gardener with over 20 years experience and a genuine love for creating outdoor spaces that people want to spend time in.

How it all began

Peter didn’t set out to become a gardener, the job found him. After being made redundant over 20 years ago, he was invited to work, watering plants on a 54-acre estate at Rusthall House. What started as a small job quickly grew into something far bigger.

Learning the craft from hands-on gardening

Working across such a huge and varied estate opened up a whole new world: building ponds, installing watering systems, mulching, shaping borders, and helping with larger landscaping projects. Peter learned fundamentals you don’t pick up in a typical gardening job and soon became a core part of the estate’s full-time team.

From franchise to running his own gardening business

Peter later joined a gardening franchise, where his clients liked him so much,  they each bought him out of his contract. That’s when his self-employed business began, and some of those early clients are still with him today, more than 20 years later.

Experience that shows in every garden

Today, all that hands-on experience, creativity and practical know-how go into every garden Peter maintains. His approach is friendly, flexible and down-to-earth, and he treats every outdoor space as if it were his own.
